Curling slides and sweeps its way into British hearts every four years – and now Snoop Dogg has followed suit in being drawn in by the roaring game.
The rapper made plenty of headlines for his exploits at the Paris 2024 Olympics and now he has turned his attention to winter, with the curling rink his first stop of Milano Cortina 2026.
His allegiances were clear as he donned a USA jacket, but he clearly knows his stones, with the rapper asking Team GB mixed doubles duo Bruce Mouat and Jen Dodds for a photo in Livigno – though the British pair are yet to actually see the snap.
Dodds said: “We walked past and we were a bit starstruck and said ‘hi’.
“We continued walking past and then got ushered back being told ‘no, no, he wants a selfie with you’.
“To Snoop Dogg’s team, if any of them read this, could we have the photo? Because we don’t have it. We are on a mission to get it.
“I think the great thing about having Snoop Dogg at curling is that it makes the audience wider for curling, it’s getting it out there for more people. The more people see it on the news, the more they might give it a go.
“He said to Bruce that he knew who he was and had heard of him, so that was pretty cool.”
Mouat has certainly garnered plenty of attention at home for his exploits on the curling circuit, with his men’s rink sweeping all before them since their Olympic silver at Beijing 2022.
Team Mouat have won back-to-back world titles in 2023 and 2025 and are now eyeing the Olympic title – but kudos from Snoop Dogg could well be worth its weight in gold.
“I almost fainted,” said Mouat. “He said he’d heard about us, which was quite crazy.
“We wish that we took a photo on our phone, but I think we were just starstruck.
“I love that he has become such a fan of the Olympics. He’s become a massive advocate for the Olympics is pretty cool.
“He comes and supports every event, he doesn’t just go to the major ones. We were pretty honoured that he came to curling.”
Mouat and Dodds were not suitably starstruck as to be knocked off their game, as they followed up their morning 7-4 victory over Sweden with a comprehensive 8-2 win over South Korea to move to five wins from five in the round robin phase.
It puts them in a strong position for qualification, with Canada and the USA up next on Saturday before they face Switzerland and hosts Italy on Sunday.
